They have a great cocktail menu, but 3 of us ordered the cucumber cooler and it took about 20 minutes before we got our drinks. They have a set menu and a daily seasonal menu. The server was friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. It was a busy Friday night, but we had a reservation and were quickly seated. We ate here last night with a party of 5. It will only get better as they work the kinks out. All told, we ate and drank (3 cocktails, 1 app, 2 entrees, 2 sides and dessert) for under $100.00. The sides are also inexpensive at $3-$5 each. $18.00 for a lamb shank and $23 for beef tenderloin is fine. You can tell they are using top notch ingredients and the prices are not out of line. I did not find Fork to be expensive for the quality of the food you get. I have seen a couple other reviews comment on high prices. Harsh lighting and our anniversary did not go hand in hand. The room we were in had a very cool light fixture made of colored, glass bottles, but for some reason they have a bright white, high efficiency lightbulb in it that makes the whole room feel like it is lit by a florescent shop light. The other rooms and the bar have very soft, warm lighting. Also, we were seated in the rear dining room (this restaurant is in an old house, so there are multiple dining rooms) where the lighting is awful. The host was a little weird and stared at my wife a little to long, so that was a little uncomfortable. There were a couple of things keeping me from a five-star rating. As for service, our waitress was very nice and attentive. It was nice to see local brews on the menu. My wife sampled a few of the fruit martinis and I had a pumpkin ale, from NoDa Brewing. Fork also does a nice job with the bar menu. For dessert, we had the sweet potato cheesecake, with homemade, toasted marshmallow. The asparagus was perfectly cooked and the mac and cheese was wonderful! I plan on going back for lunch, just to eat the mac & cheese. Fork has an a-la-carte style menu, so we split the goat cheese mac & cheese and the asparagus side dishes. I ordered the lamb shank which was "fall-off-the-bone" delicious. My wife ordered the beef tenderloin and really enjoyed it. The wasabi and plum sauce we sweet and spicy. Started with the chicken spring rolls, which were very good. Visited with my wife for our anniversary this past weekend. Nom nom nom.įork! is definitely worth a trip to Cornelius!

The fella took her suggestion on his side - the goat cheese mac and cheese - and I tried to be healthy and go with the cauliflower (if I knew more fancy food words, I'd explain how delicious this was). "You can get the chicken anytime, but the pork chop is only on the menu today." "Tough decision, but I'd go with the spicy chicken spring roll." Smoked pork dumpling or spicy chicken spring roll to start? The fella and I are great at narrowing down and horrible at choosing, so we let her do all the choosing, and she was spot on. Even when another couple got seated as we were wrapping up, it still didn't feel too stuffy/tight as other reviewers have suggested because the place is pretty lively, but not so lively that you can't hear the people you're with. We were there at 6:30 on a Saturday, and there was only one other group in our room. If it had been just a little cooler outside, I would've picked outdoor seating, but we sat inside on the main floor. But that was the only negative, so on with the review! It came out medium to medium well, so it was chewier than I like I usually order medium rare. I ordered the pork chop, which was one of the daily specials, and our waitress didn't ask how I wanted it cooked. I was so incredibly impressed that I'll start with the only negative thing so that I can end on many, many positive notes. The fella and I ventured north for a Cornelius day that ended at Fork!.
